Keeping your iron soleplate clean can be very important. Imagine your daughter’s art project leaving glue residue on the surface of your iron, only to then be transferred to your favorite suit jacket. Yikes!
LauraStar has designed a cleaning pad specifically for gently scrubbing an iron soleplate. A regular cleaning sponge featuring a scrubbing surface on one side can be too rough to use on an iron’s surface and can damage your iron. Scratching or damaging the surface of your iron’s soleplate will lead to “hot spots” and uneven temperature control.
The special LauraStar polyfer material has been tested and found safe to use on an iron’s surface without scratching the aluminum or stainless steel finish. The LauraStar Polyfer Iron Soleplate Cleaner Pad lasts for multiple uses.
- For lighter stains or residues:
Heat your iron to warm. Using the LauraStar Polyfer Iron Soleplate Cleaner Pad and water, gently scrub the surface to remove blemishes (being careful not to touch the surface, yourself!)
- For tough burn marks or residues:
Heat water with one part vinegar and one part salt on your stove top or in a microwave. Once the salt has dissolved, dip the LauraStar Polyfer Iron Soleplate Cleaner Pad into the liquid and scrub the iron soleplate. Use circular motions over the stained or tarnished areas.
It’s recommended after each of these methods to allow the iron to reach its hottest temperature. At that point, activate the steam function to fully clean the iron’s steam portals.
*Bonus, while you’re letting the steam release, it’s a great opportunity to clean your sink. The hot temperature of the steam will disinfect any germs lingering on the surface of your kitchen or utility sink! Talk about a two-for-one!
